Huelva province (The Columbus experience, golden sands and great Tapas)

The province of Huelva is possibly the most truly unspoilt and genuinely Spanish area in the whole of the country. It really is an undiscovered gem where the visitor can obtain a deep understanding of “Real Spain” in a very short space of time. Consequently it is an ideal destination for Short breaks in Andalusia.

Huelva also has a fascinating history including being the starting point for Christopher Columbus’s first voyage and consequent discovery of the New World, plus a British legacy from the Rio Tinto mines in the north of the Province. This includes an interesting British neighbourhood in the heart of the city and the first ever Football and Tennis clubs in Spain – Spanish football actually started here!

Huelva was officially named gastronomic capital of Spain in 2017 and has the cheapest and most genuinely local menu of tapas in Andalusia.
